Original engine was 848cc and has been replaced with 1098cc

1275cc cylinder head (planed 0.040")
10.3 to 1 compression

Tubular extractor manifold
Cooper silencer - not very silent now!

Modified distributor giving 14 degrees of static advance and 34 degrees of total advance at 3,000 rpm and above

Duplex timing chain

Late model HIF and one and a half inch SU

Averages 45 miles per gallon around town

I acquired her in December 1998 and it was such fun to drive.  I also like having a vehicle that is instantly recognizable and has such a great following.
I really miss driving this car as it had the modified engine and was great for 'take-off'.

NEW MINI

I have seen the new Mini on the roads and I have sat inside one. It is undoubtedly a very nice car, well made and I like the retro dashboard, but quite a large car in comparison to the original. One day it may attract the same following but I still like mine which really is a mini car.

What would the Mini be without the added performance provided by the engines that John Cooper developed with the full co-operation of  BMC and Sir Alec. Along with the addition of the white stripes on the bonnet this gave us the very distinctive Mini Cooper and Cooper S. What a combination!

This engine will be replaced in due course with a high compression (11 to 1) modified 1098 suitable for 97/98 octane unleaded fuel - can't wait.

Still this is a nice car, in very good repair and has a large fold back roof which is fantastic and I have the roof open in nearly all conditions except torrential rain.

A Tale of Two Minis:
